World War II Begins
In an effort to avoid war and protect their people, countries were slow to join WWII, and act against Hitler’s
aggression.
aggression.
Specific Events
Countries in Europe tried to do the best for their people, and in the end they would burn in flames (literally), or they would flourish and help their country.
Stalin of the Soviet Union signed the non-aggressional treaty, but when the Germans came in, they treated the “sub-humans” worthy of slaughter. He signed and that could have been the best solution for peace, however, he was wrong and the "peace" ended in flames. When Austria gave into Hitler’s demands, peace came at the cost of putting Nazi’s in important government position. This ended up putting the people of Austria in danger and that also hurt Austria in the long-run and immediately because of the bad reputation the country has and the fact that they put the Nazi's in government positions. Other countries didn’t give in so quickly. Poland and France had to fight to see what seemed like the only way for peace, but fighting only lead to defeat and the control of Hitler. Except for Britain. When the UK opposed Hitler, they fought and they won. Britain fought knowing they had the weapons and the power to win which was a wise decision. Other countries didn't have the technology to win, yet they fought anyway. In this way, Britain had an advantage.
Context
The social, political, and economic setting in WWII may have been in he favor of the country, but eventually, they lead to feeding Hitler’s aggression and only created problems.
Social
Hitler and his supporters believed in the historical past that was the best for Europe. The Jews threatened that belief. In the past there was no Jew influence but when the religion grew in Europe, it lead to the beginning of WWII because Hitler didn't want any of this "Bad" religious influence. It added to his aggression and eventually lead to the war when Hitler targeted countries that had bigger populations of Jews.

Political
Allies of the UK, Poland, and France that have helped each other in the past lead to war because the Polish refused Hitler's demand. They rejected his orders, knowing that the UK and France would back them up. Eventually that decision lead to more deaths and a loss of an ally, France, to the Germans. The French weren't the only army that was defeated. To get to France, the Germans had to go through Belgium which ended in a loss. The allies were a great investment before the war, but during the war, they burned in flames,

Economics
Before WWII, the United States was involved in a Great Depression. This Depression made people desperate for a solution and Franklin Roosevelt tried to give it to them. The New Deal programs were their best bet at the time and it did help them, but the Governments ultimate solution was to enter WWII. The war made money and used the surplus the farmers had. However, WWII lead to the loss of many lives even though it bettered their economy. What Roosevelt did with the New Deal programs and entering the war was the best thing he could have done for the economy. But that decision lead to a bigger war.

Historical Developments
Times past has shown that countries want the best for their people, even when that effort may be wasted, they were still looking out.
US as a World Power
In WWII the US joined the alliance with Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. This was to protect their people. They were making a point in the world just as they did in the Spanish-American war. They stood as one and the US aided the alliance during WWII with weapons, and money, and did everything they could to fight against Hitler and his aggressions. This ended up winning the war and keeping the country safe. It also ended the Great Depression which helped the US economy greatly.
Progressive Era
When the problem of women not having equal rights to men expanded, it was the responsibility of both the people and the government to fix the problem. The private groups made it clear to the government that something needed to be done and when the government realized this upset, they passed laws regarding women’s rights such as the 19th amendment, which gives women the right to vote. In this way, they made the country better and made the country more equal than is was in the past.

World War I
When the US was involved in WWI, they regulated businesses to adopt an 8-hour work day for their employees. They improved wages, and they let women work in jobs that usually men would work at. They helped the economy as well as citizens of the country while we were at war, which gave people confidence and money which led to the Roaring '20s.
The Roaring '20s
In the Roaring '20s, most believed that women shouldn’t have evolved and become, what at the time seemed, scandalous, or drink, or party, or do what a man does. They wanted to return to traditional roots so that the women would stay at home and be sheltered and during the teenage years, stay connected with their parents, and do their will because parents know best right? They wouldn't do bad things like sneak out and drink and party. This is just a way that the government was looking out for them. However, when women stood their ground, in the end it turned out to be better for the country, and the government started to support them when the private groups like colleges backed the young women up and showed them that this was a good thing. And this was a good thing, and now, there are women in important government roles and we wouldn't have been the country we were in WWII without them.
The Great Depression and the New Deal
The United States was involved in
a Great Depression for over 10 years from start to finish. During this time
period, President Hoover and Roosevelt created programs to help their country out
and save the people from being homeless, starving, and show them someone is
watching out for them. Roosevelt helped when he created New Deal programs such as the AAA for farmers to finally have an income, and the HOLC which helped families keep a roof over their head. Even though in the end the US was still in debt, the
people of the country were alive, had shelter and even some spending money to further help the economy. This shows how the country was looking out for their people and did their best to find a solution.
Significance
Even though historic priorities have changed throughout time, there is still one moral of the story, to do the best for your country and the people in it, and President Obama is doing his best to meet that moral.
WWII damaged many countries, but when those countries were fighting, they were fighting for a better country. Even when they decided to give in, they believed it would be for the better. Those acts are still happening today. In the US, even though President Obama is spending money on Government programs, these programs are helping many, many people in the US.. A program called ObamaCare has a goal to give more Americans access to affordable, quality health insurance, and to reduce the growth in health care spending in the U.S.. Obamacare lets young adults stay on their plan until they're 26. It stops insurance companies from dropping you when you are sick or if you make an honest mistake on your application. It's helping many Americans in this day and age when the struggle is real, and money is tight. Another program is similar and it's Medicare. It has comparable benefits and covers people on medicine and other things. With Medicare, people have saved over 9.9 billion dollars on prescriptions. Some people believe that the government is being wasteful, but these programs are designed to help people and they undoubtedly are.
