Women's rights has made great strides over the years but women still aren't equal in everyday life. Women are constantly objectified in everyday life. On May 23, 2014 at Santa Barbara, Elliot Rodgers killed 6 people, wounded 13 others, and then committed suicide. Although males and females both fell victim on this day this was a hate crime against women because the murderer voiced his opinion that women should be destroyed for not having sex with him. He posted a video on YouTube expressing his disgust and hatred for women and how he was going to punish all of them. This incident has united women to stand up and speak out through posting on social media like twitter using the #yesallwomen. This group speaks out against the growing rape culture and objectification of women in todays society. The picture above is a freeze frame from a satellite taken 2 days after the killings. The blue circles represent one tweet that involves the #yesallwomen at a specific point in time on 5/25/2014. The hashtag had been posted 1,000,000 in 2 days. With this group intervening they are empowering women and giving them a voice for the issues their still is today.
