Cesar Chavez
Whenever you are promoting any cause, you want to be aggressive to show that you are serious about this cause, but you don't want to be so aggressive that people don't listen to you, instead you want to be calm whenever speaking to anyone about the cause. Cesar Chavez is a great example for this, he was very aggressive while trying to gain rights for people, but he was so calm about it that it actually helped him to gain support for his cause. An example of this is in 1972, Cesar Chavez had major setbacks in the UFW movement. Whenever the UFW would start attacking and getting to aggressive, people would die, become jailed, or be seriously injured. Chavez recognized this and decided to take a new approach to gaining rights. He decided to be more peaceful in how he approached things. He then realized that if he was too peaceful that nobody would take him seriously, so he became aggressive and peaceful in his movements.
The Social, Political, and Economic events during the Great Depression are what helped the U.S. come out of the Depression. The Mexican Americans were being deported which made them protest, but they became aggressive with their protest and got nowhere.
Economic
By 1900, around 100,000 mexicans had migrated to the U.S. The Mexican Revolution of 1910 had caused an uproar in Mexico. Mexicans were now starting to cross the boarder and come to the U.S. Many more of these immigrants started to also come to the U.S. for the first thirty years of the 20th century.

There were several leaders durring the Chicano movement including Reiez Lopez in New Mexico. Reiez was determined to regain control of what was once considered ancestral lands.
World War I
In 1910's, World War 1 forced many Mexicans to migrate to the U.S. The Mexican government because of the war, was unable to make its citizens lives better. By 1930 harvest size had decreased dramatically and it was near impossible to find employees.

The Great Depression
The Great Depression probably affected the Mexican immigrants the most and this is because the U.S. lost so much money that they could not afford to have as many immigrants in the country. Because of this the U.S. started immigrant deportation. Not only Mexicans were deported, sometimes Americans were deported because they were suspected of being Mexican.

The Roaring 20's
During the 20's after World War 1 was over, Mexican immigrants started migrating back to the U.S. Because of this, the U.S. had to establish a boarder patrol in 1924
U.S. as a World Power
The U.S. started to interfere with other national affairs such as the annexation of Hawaii. This is in a way what helped the U.S. start to interfere with other countries such as Mexico. When the U.S. interfered with Mexico, they had no reason to, showing that the U.S. continually interferes with other countries uninvited.

Significance
There are still Mexican Americans protesting against how they are being treated in the U.S. today. They are accomplishing much more now than they were then because they have realized that being too aggressive won't get you anywhere, instead they are being more calm with their approach to their movements. There is also still immigration that is happening today. Although the rate has dropped, the rate of Mexicans crossing the boarder is still higher than the U.S. would like.
